Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations

11/20/2015

While staying in Twizel, we took a one day road trip to Oamaru to visit Geoff's family and to join in the Victorian Heritage Celebrations Sunday Fete.

Oamaru holds the celebrations annually, although the Historical Precinct is open all year round.

There are displays, Victorian style side shows, bands, singing, stone sawing, fashion parades and a good variety of food, including a farmers market.

Anyone and everyone can dress up in Victorian clothing or Steam Punk attire. It all adds to the fun and is part of the atmosphere. The Victorian Wardrobe will hire costumes for the day.

A great family day out. The Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations are held the same week as Christchurch's Show and Cup week. The week includes a ball, recitals, walks, a parade to the precinct. There is something for everyone. Mark it in your calendar.
